Easy and cheesy, two of my favorite things. This Garlic Cheese Pull Apart Bread is perfect with any meal, or by itself.
Garlic Cheese Pull Apart Bread
Y’all the universe has been conspiring against me. I’ve had a terrible case of bread brain and my Pinterest feed has been flooded with all sorts of amazing recipes just screaming for me to try them.
Wednesday I shared a round up of Bread, Biscuits and Rolls that look incredible and today I have to tell you about this Garlic Cheese Pull Apart Bread we had with dinner the other night. I wasn’t expecting it to be so good and I love how easy it was to throw together. I have no idea what I served it with, I was so focused on the bread that I barely ate anything else!
This recipe uses frozen rolls so it’s easy to throw together. I only used 10 of them since I wanted to scale it back a bit.
Even though I used fewer rolls, I didn’t cut back on the butter. I know, I probably should have but y’all it’s BUTTER and everything is better with butter. I threw in garlic, onion powder and italian seasonings until it looked right. Y’all didn’t think I was going to measure it did you?
You know how sometimes you have what should be a brilliant idea that doesn’t work quite as well as you hoped it would? I used a tupperware container for the butter mixture, threw all the bread pieces in, covered it and shook it up. Brilliant right? Nope, not so much.
It sort of worked but some of the bread was still a little frozen in the center so the butter hardened up and didn’t coat the way I had hoped. When I added the cheese to the container, it wouldn’t stick right and the dough that was completely thawed had squished into weird shapes. I had to pull each individual piece out and try to reshape them a little and squish the cheese on. So definitely not a time saver…
As I pulled each piece out and reshaped it, I put them in an 8in cake pan. When it was all in there, I covered it and let it rise for 2 hours or so then threw it in the oven.
Y’all are not going to believe this but I FORGOT to add the extra cheese to the top before I put it in the oven! I know, I can’t imagine what I was thinking (or not thinking) but yep, it didn’t happen.
It was still a beautiful thing to see when it came out of the oven and it was hard to wait for it to cool before we dove in. I had another *brilliant* idea and decided to flip it out of the pan, on to a plate and then one more flip…y’all that did not go well. There was butter and melted cheese all over the place and the bread got sort of squished in the process. It didn’t ruin the taste at all but it sure wasn’t pretty and we’re not even going to talk about the clean up.
This was one of those tests that didn’t quite go as planned. However, it still tasted amazing and Joe and I both loved it. I know we ate it with dinner, but I have no idea what I served and I’m pretty sure not a lot of it got eaten since we were busy shoving bread in our faces.
Do you make pull apart bread? I’d love to hear about your favorite so leave me a comment and tell me all about it.
